Hague Duvivier Scenic Plate

This is a truly superb plate was made by The Hague / Haag around 1783. The rim is hand painted with floral garlands hanging from blue bows with gold designs in between, There is a bit of a relief design to the paste going from the gold designs into the well edge. What makes this a very special plate besides it being a rare scenic piece is that the scene was hand painted by the famous Fidelle Duvivier! The scene is in puce and of amazing quality. There is a gentleman holding a stick with a basket on it in one hand and another basket in the other hand standing by a lady sitting down all in a nice landscape surrounding with a large tree in the back. The plate is also larger than all the others I have owned being 11.125 inches in daimeter and 1.5 inches tall. The blank porcelain seems to have been made at Tournai since it is soft paste and has a greenish translucency to it with some incised marks to the back. The plate is in amazing condition - as nice as they come! The plate appears to have been marked with the usual stork and eel mark that Hague used but someone scratches the mark away. Maybe to make it appear to have been done by Tournai? A very rare and spectacular example! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
