Heubach Pate sur Pate Vase

This isa superb vase made by Heubach in Germany in the late 19th century. A superb Art Nouveau period piece that is decorated by the famous and sought after Pate-sur-Pate technique. These were hard to make as the raised design was slowly done by adding layer after layer having to be fired in between each of them. That made for a wonderfully translucent design that had more of a three dimensional look than regular porcelain paintings. Often made by them for the Maerican market and thus marked in English underneath. This vase here is deocrated with a semi nide lady in the traditional white on a pink background. She has her breasts exposed while a cloth is covering her mid section. Nice flowers by her side. What makes this piece a bit more special than most is the instead of the gold trim surrounding the scene here we have flowers in the pate sur pate technique in green, pnk and blue. Quite unusual and it looks stunning! The rest of the vase has a greenish blue ground color to it with a bit of gold trim to the top. The vase is marked underneath with the blue HI mark with the star above it, pate-sur-pate under is and Made in Germany in a circle as shown. The vase is about 9.5 inches tall and 3.5 inches in diameter at the widest part. It is in superb condition with wear to the gold trim along the top edge and a dip in the edge of the bottom rim from when it was made. All glazed over and hard to spot when on display. A really nice looking piece! Please email me for more information or photos.
