Oettner Decorated Scenic Cup & Saucer

This is the nicest cup and saucer I have had the pleasure of owning made by Hoechst in the 18th century - in about 1763. The pieces are hand painted by the famous Andreas Oettner who wroked at Hochst around this time. It is a bit hard to keep track of this superb artist since he worked all over the place within a short period of time. I'll add some of what is known about his locations at the end here. Both pieces are hand painted with an outstanding scene of a couple in a landscape surrounding with a nice puce and gold trim around it and some bugs scattered about. Gold trim to the edge and the nicely shaped handle. Puce flower to the bottom inside of the cup. Really superbly painted pieces and the obvious look of a well known master painter! The set is in superb condition with some wear to the gilding - mailnly to the top edge of the cup, A paint flake under the butt of the gentleman on the cup and some very very minor age related wear. The saucer is marked underneath with the rare impressed wheel mark as well as some incised letters as shown while the cup appears to be unmarked. The cup is 3 inches tall and 2.625 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inch tall and 4.875 inches in diameter. The nicest set I have seen by this maker! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Andreas Philipp Oettner worked in Frankenthal 1759, then in Ludwigsburg from 1759 until 1763, then at Höchst from 1763 until 1766, Fürstenberg 1767 until 1770 and I believe at Weesp around 1770. Probably more places that I don't know about. Pretty crazy!
