Early Puce Scenic Plate

This is a superb plate made by Hoechst in their early year in about 1750. It is hand painted with a largepuce scene in the center including some trees, buildings, a river and some people - including fishermen. The scene has a polychrome scroll design below it which is fairly typical of their early work. Some flowers and bugs scattered throughout the rest of the plate especially on the rim with a brown trim to the edge. Nice shape to the porcelain as well. The plate is in superb condition with some firing issues like black specs. unevenness in the paste, firing cracks, etc. All in all an amazing example from this period of one of the nicer smaller German makers! It is marked underneath with a six spoke wheel mark in red as well as an impressed 2.. The plate is 1.25 inches tall and 9.875 inches in diameter.
