Miniature Bird Scene Cup

This is a cute small porcelain cup made by Hoechst in the 18th century. It appears to be for a child and these smaller peices are quite hard to find especially when decorated so nicely. The cup is hand painted with a high quality bird scene including a bird flapping in a landscape surrounding with a partial fence in the background. The rim has a stunning trim to it including triangles in turquois with gold trim around them and little single flowerssurrounded by a gold trim. A bit of gilding to the handle as well. A really nice high end piece by a great maker! The cup is marked underneath with a blue under glaze wheel mark as well as an incised number 2 as shown. It is 1.75 inches tall and 2.125 inches in diameter. The cup is in good condition with a minor touch of wear to the gold trim around the top edge and a chip to the bottom edge not very visible when sitting on a falt surface.
