Ilmenau Strawflower Single Cup

This is a cup made by Ilmenau in the later 18th century. It has a typical shape for them with a simple handle and a ribbed design to the inside that many of these Thuringia area merks used. The outside is hand painted with the famous strawflower design in under glaze blue used by almost all makers at some point. The inside has a nice flower and ring design to the bottom and another ring near the top. One of the harder to find makers though they did make some really nice things! Ilmenau existed from about 1777 until today unless the current economy did them in as well which I am not sure about. The piece is in great condition with a large firing spot to the inside and a crack to the bottom terminal of the handle which is a common ailment on 18th century cups with this type of handle. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue line with a dot over it as well as the incised letters HI. The cup is 1.75 inches tall and 2.875 inches in diameter.
