Irina Zaytceva Figural Cup

This is a really fun figural porcelain tea or coffee cup made by Russian American artist Irina Zaytceva in 2008. Irina Zaytceva was born in Moscow and graduated from the Moscow Art Institute in 1982 with degree in book illustration but figured out that her true love was sculpting in porcelain. Who can blame her! :) Her pieces can be seen in museums in the United States as well as abroad like the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. The cup here is a very whimsical piece almost in the direction of folk art with that face attached to the front, the ears on the side and the handle being in the shape of an arm and hand. Bow to the front and the skirt sort of forming a saucer. The cup sits on four feet and even the inside is decorated. Just makes you smile everytime you look at it. Definitely unlike anything else you'll come across. The piece is in perfect condition but does have crazing to the glaze. It is a manufacturing flaw and not real damage. It's the result from the paste and glaze not fusing perfectly during the firing process. The mug is signed underneath I. SZ. over 2008 and to the side in orange IZ as shown. The piece is 3.875 inches tall, about 4.5 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
