Bear Shaped Pitcher / Milk Jug

This is a a really fun figural pitcher / creamer / milk jug made by Jean Gille in the mid 19th century. Jean Gille was for me the best and one of the earliest makers of these unglazed pieces and he had a superb imagination and talent. The quality oif his wares is always top notch and this is another good example of his work. The attention to detail on this creamer is amazing - probably the most fun creamer I have seen in a long time. The piece is in the shape of a wear with his mouth open which forms the spout. The bear is holding a golden funnel of sorts which is held up with a white spoon in the back. The top opening is in the bottom of the golden colored funnel. This would actually be usable and still fairly easy to clean. The bear is mostly white except for the face and paws. The piece is about 7.75 inches tall including the white spoon, 3 inches wide and 5 inches deep. In great condition with use marks and some wear to the gilding but otherwise perfect. The piece displays very nicely. It is marked with the raised JG on an oval pad mark in blue as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $699
