Blue Onion Basket

This is a large reticulated basket made by KPM around 1780. It is rare to find these large versions in good condition these days. Nicely handpainted with the old underglaze blue onion design where the blue still has a greyish tinge to it. Molded handles with some applied leaves coming off them. The basket is in great condition with one of the leaf ends of the handle missing as shown. One can turn it to the back and it displays perfectly and even if in the front it's not very obvious. There is also one firing paste flaw on the inside that looks like a bump but the design goes right over it and you have to search for it to find it. The piece is 4.375 inches tall (including the handles), 10.25 inches wide and 9.125 inches deep. It is marked underneath with an 18th century underglaze blue scepter mark as well as the blue painters mark B and an incised K. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $799
