Classical Scenes Cup & Saucer

This is a fun cup and saucer made by KPM in the late 18th or early 19th century. KPM used no painters mark like the red orb yet during this period thus you only have the blue scepter and impressed marks most of the time. The set is hand painted with a nice turquoise ground color with some gold trim to the edges and the handle. The gilding along the top rim is really nicely done. The best part is off course the sepia colored scene in the classical taste of the period. There is a semi nude gentleman standing in the well of the saucer and another gentleman sitting on the outside of the cup. Love that handle shape from the classical period that was so popular during this time. The set is in superb condition - as nice as they come! The gilding is perfect which is rare and there are no chips, restorations, etc. The cup is 2.375 inches tall and 2.625 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter. Both are marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter, the usual impressed number and a red 3. on the cup and 21. or Z1. on the saucer. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
