Bird of Prey Scene Plate

This is a stunning plate made by KPM in the mid 19th century around 1860. The center of the plate is hand painted with one of the nicest scenes I have seen by them from this period = a bird of prey - likely a hawk - feasting on a smaller bird in a meadow filled with wild flowers including poppys, pink morning glory and blue cornflowers or something along those lines. Reminds me of the fleuer en terrasse pieces KPM did. The superbly painted scene is surrounded by a wide gold trim around the edge of the well. The rim has an amazing royal blue ground color with some nice gilding on top and a gold trim to the nicely shaped edge. A stunning piece! The plate is 1.375 inches tall and 9.875 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter mark as well as the red orb mark and some impressed marks normal to this period. The plate is in superb condition with a tiny bit of wear to the gilding but as nice as you can hope for and perfect for display anywhere in your home! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
