Bird Scene Chocolade Pot

This is a hot chocolate pot made by KPM around 1780. Quite a rare piece and definitely the nicest one I have owned by them from this period. The front and back have superb handpainted bird scenes, the rim has a nice raised design highlighted by gilding and in between are lots of top quality butterflies scattered around. The lid also has two small scenes with birds and small butterflies as well as a top flower finial. The slot on the top side is so you can stir the chocolate before serving or to keep the skin from coming out while pouring. A wooden spoon would be used for this. The quality is really superb and it is in perfect condition on top of that which is amazing with just a tiny bit of gold wear! The pot is marked underneath with the scepter in underglaze blue and an impressed I or something like that on the footring. The piece is 7 inches tall and 3.25 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
