Blanc de Chine Laterna Magica Figurine

This is a superb figurine of an interesting subject made by KPM in the early 20th century. A very rare model to find but this same figure was also made by Chelsea / Derby and Sevres but I am not sure if they copied them from each other or it was done from an engraving. I assume it is the latter. This is the version left in the white but I also own the hand painted version. The subject is of a lady looking into a laterna magica devise which is sort of the earliest precursor to our modern day movies. There is a gentleman to the side and a child next to her. The piece is nicely modeled with lots of details. The figure is in decent condition and displays nicely but the gentleman's head has been off and repaired and one of the straps by which he would carry the devide has also been worked on. The edge of his hat have also been worked on by the look of it. Not obious when on display but the restoration has aged and could be redone to improve it and make it invisible. The figurine is 6.75 inches tall, 7 inches wide and 5 inches deep. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter that was ground down to hide a second choice line I presume. Also an impressed letter D as shown. Not a piece you will see again anytime soon! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $749
