Blanc de Chine School Girl Figurine

This is a figurine of a young school girl knitting made by KPM in the early 20th century. It is the version left in the white to show off that superb Art Nouveau / Jugenstil modeling. The figure is of a school girl looking shy with a book in her hand. Nicely dressed in a skirt with some nice relief design around the bottom edge and a relief design around the base edge as well. Originally modeled by Martin Fritzsche in 1908. This piece is one of the ones that seem to be the answer by KPM to the Meissen Hentschel children which are very sought after but also much more common. The figurine is in decent condition with a restored to two of the folds that stick out of the skirt. Too much overpainting as usual but this could easily be improved upon byt a decent restorer. One of the chips has since re-chipped as shown. The restoration has yellowed a touch but the piece still displays very well. The figurine is 9 inches tall, 4.5 inches wide and 4.25 inches deep. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter mark with a line underneath denoting it as being a second choice piece. Likely for the two tiny black firing spots on the white. It also has the usual impressed numbers and marks as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $249
