Canary Bird Figurine

This is a bird figurine made by KPM around 1780. It is of a yellow Canary sitting on top of a branched tree stump. The detail of it is superb and it is rare to find them from the original period. Nice modeling and painted very well. The figurine is in good condition but not without faults as one would come to expect of these early pieces. His tail has been mended as was a shallow chip to the bottom base rim. Neither takes away from the piece when on display! The bird is 4.125 inches tall, 3.275 inches long and 2 inches wide. It is marked underneath with one of the 18th century underglaze blue scepter marks - looks like the fairly long and skinny one as well as an impressed letter N (not the more modern date code N!). The back of the base is incised Kan Vogl for Kanarien Vogel which is the German name of this little guy. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
