Potpourri Dish

This is a rare lidded potpourri dish made by KPM Berlin in the very late 19th century. Rare because one does not find these painted by KPM - almost all are painted outside the factory and not by KPM plus it still has its original lid. The main part is hand painted with two floral arrangements - one to the front and one to the back, a butterfly underneath the handles with two more butterflies and single flowers to the bottom part that would hold the fuel. The rest of the piece has lots of gilding all over. The lid also has some nice gilding to it. It has holes in it for the smell to come out of when in use. Both pieces are in superb condition - no issues. The entire piece is 6.25 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide and 2.875 inches deep. The dish is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter mark, the red orb, a painter's or gilder's mark as well as an impressed 4 or h. Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $499
