Hoopoe Bird Scene Plate

This is a stunning plate made by KPM in the mid 19th century around 1860. The center of the plate is hand painted with one of the nicest scenes I have seen by them from this period - a pair of Hoopoe birds in a meadow filled with wild flowers including some lily of the valley and even a wild strawberry plant with strawberries on it. Just amazingly detailed and fun to look at! The superbly painted scene is surrounded by a wide gold trim around the edge of the well. The rim has a superb royal blue ground color with some nice gilding on top and a gold trim to the nicely shaped edge. A stunning piece! The plate is 1.25 inches tall and 10 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter mark with the round penny mark as well as the red orb mark and some impressed marks normal to this period. The plate is in superb condition with a tiny bit of wear to the gilding but as nice as you can hope for and perfect for display anywhere in your home! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
