Plate for King Umberto I

This is a fun plate made by KPM in the late 19th century for King Umberto I of Italy . Nicknamed the Good, he was the King of Italy from 9 January 1878 until his assassination on 29 July 1900. The design of the plate is based on the famous Preußen-Service aka Prussian Royal Table Service made for Kaiser Wilhelm II except for the differences in the central design! The plate is a nicely hand painted with three floral arrangements in orange tones, a gold trim on a basket weave design along the edge with the best part being the center which has an eagle wearing a crown and a necklace while holding a scepter and shield. The plate displays perfectly but has some use marks, a tiny thin chip to the gold trim on the very edge as shown as well as two chips to the underside which are not really visible from the top. The plate is just over 1 inch tall and 8.375 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter, the red orb as well as various artist and impressed marks of the period as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
