KPM Kurland Decor 73 Ice Cooler

This is a very hard to find and truly superb piece from the Kurland service in the decoration 73 made by KPM in the 20th century. The Kurland pattern is always nice but the decor 73 is their top of the line and extra nice. It is one of my favorite patterns and looks very stunning when in use or on display. Hard to get these unusual dishes on the open market. The ice pail / fruit cooler was originally used to cool fruit with ice being added to the top of the lid and to the inside with a third bowl like pieces holding the fruit. On modern pieces this central bowl does not exist anymore. It is used more as an ice pail for a bottle of champagne and the lid as decoration when put on display. The main body is hand painted with a superb and large floral arrangement to the front and back with a butterfly to each side of each arrangement. There is a handpe to eack side that is very detailed and highlighted with gilding. The top edge as well as the lid edge have the tell tale turquoise ground trim color to it with the relief design fully gilded with some tooled details to it. A handle is sticking out from the center of the lid with some nice relief details to it and gold highlights. The inside of the top of the lid has four more butterflies painted on it. A truly stunning looking piece! The lidded cooler is in perfect condition. It measures about 10.625 inches tall and 7.375 inches in diameter. The handles stick out about 1.125 inches on either side. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter, the red orb as well as some black artist mark and decor number 73 as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1999
