Mausoleum Scene Cup & Saucer

This is a superb cup and saucer made by KPM in about 1820. The cup is hand painted with a superb scenic view of the Mausoleum by Charlottenburg in Berlin ( Mausoleum im Schlosspark Charlottenburg ) which was built Immediately following the death of Queen Luise in 1810, who was highly esteemed by the people. The scene is of a very high quality and surrounded with a gilt frame. The foot is gilded as well and there is gold trim to the top and bottom of the main body, the handle and gold wash to the top half of the inside of the cup. The saucer has a simple gold ring along the edge, another one along the edge of the well and the saying Ihrer Koeniglichen Hoheit allerunterthaenigst gewidmet ( Dedicated most submissively to her Royal Highness or somehing along that route) Seems to have been made for royalty or itwas put on there as a memory to being a subject of Queen Louise. Not sure. The cup is 3.625 inches tall (4.75 including the handle) and 3.125 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and has a diameter of 5.75 inches. Both pieces are in good condition with some wear to the gilding. The saucer has a couple of scratches to the white area and the handle has a firing crack where it connects to the cup but it does not go all the way through. Both pieces are marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter mark as well as the usual impressed marks of the period. The cup also has Das Mausoleum zu Charlottenburg in black underneath.
