Martin Luther Scene Cup & Saucer

This is a cup and saucer made by KPM in the the mid 19th century around 1840. The set has a nice shape to it with two rows of "pearl" trim - little white raised dots all around the top and bottom of the cup. The front has a very high quality portrait of Martin Luther surrounded by a tooled gold trim with the rest of the outside of the cup, the handle and the inside of the cup being fully gilded. The handle has a swan head at the top. The saucer has the same matching raised white dot rings - one around the well and one about half an inch down the edge with the rim being fully gilded. I have even found the original sketch this portrait was based on and have the matching cup with his wife's portrait on it as well which is super rare. The set is in good condition with almost no wear at all to the cup but it does have a chip that was either reattached perfectly or never fully came off. It is very hard to spot when on display. The saucer has more wear to it and does have some chipping to the underside edge as shown visible a tiny bit from the top but not enough to take away from a nice set! The cup is a bit over 3.125 inches tall plus the handle which sticks up about an inch and 3.625 inches in diameter without the handle. The saucer is 1 inch tall and 6.25 inches in diameter. Both pieces are marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter over the letter KPM mark as shown plus an impressed number. Somewhere in the distant past I am related to this guy which might explain the stubbornness running in my family :) My brother is really into genealogy and he has found some really interesting things through it. I don't have the time or patience for it but it's really neat to see his work on it. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
