Neuzierat Chestnut Leaf Scene Plate

This is a great plate made by KPM in the early 20th century. It is hand painted with the rarest design on these plates of this style - the tree branch / leaf motif. This one is of a branch of a European Chestnut tree including its leaves on a branch but also half opened chestnut which makes this one really superb plate! Kind of the German version of the Flora Danica :) Just an amazingly detailed painting and with the rim painted with gold on a raised design it is just spectacular. The plate is in great condition with one of spot of wear on one of the outer leaves from stacking. Light and not obvious when on display jsut when held at a certain angle to the light. Two scratches to the glaze in the white area also not visible when on display. It is 8.625 inches in diameter so a nice size and 1 inch tall. The plate is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter, the red orb mark, some black numbers, a painter's and a gilder's mark, the usual impressed marks of this period as well as the name of the tree - Echte Kastanie in black script.
