Rare Chocolate Pot

This is a very rare chocolate pot made by KPM in about 1780. KPM used no painters mark like the red orb yet during this period thus you only have the blue scepter and impressed marks most of the time. The pot is handpainted with two superb floral arrangements as well as a few small flowers and a nice puce and gold trim. Nicely shaped spout as well as handle. The lid has three flowers on it and the typical hole in the center that wouldfit the wooden stirrer that one would use to keep mixing the hot chocolate! This is a very rare shape and a superb example! The pot and lid are in great condition with a little wear to the gold trim and one small chip to the inside ring of the lid that is completely hidden when it sits in place! The piece is 7 inches tall, 8 inches long (including handle and spout) and 4.75 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter as shown as well as an incised 48 and a wavy line (likely a bossierer's sign) on the footring. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
