Piranesi Scene Cup & Saucer #2

This is a really nice and rare cup and saucer made by KPM around 1765. The set is hand painted with a superbly detailed scene with a ruin in a landscape background with some people and other building as well. The designs are after etchings by Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-78). The scenes are superb! Only a handfull of these peices are known to still exist! Nice gold trim as well and a flower arrangement to the inside of the cup. Typical handle shape of the period highlighted with pink and gilding. The set is in great condition with just a touch of wear to the gilding - mainly to the edge of the saucer and one spot along the rim. One small firing spot to the saucer well disguised as a tiny bird in the sky. Both are marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter mark as well as the usual impressed marks as shown. The cup is 1.75 inches tall and 3.125 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.25 inches tall and 5.375 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
