Sanssouci Scene Cup & Saucer

This is a great topographical cup and saucer made by KPM in about 1830. It is hand painted with a superb scenic view of the Sanssouci palace near the city of Potsdam in Germany. It was King Frederick the Great's summer residence. The hand painted scene on the front of the cup is of very nice quality though sadly it does not show the iconic terraces. The rest of the cup has some nice gilding to it with the handle having a nice design design to it as well. The saucer has the same gold design to it with a nice central star design all in gold. The inside of the cup is fully gilded about halfway down and a gold ring at the very bottom. The cup is 3.625 inches tall (4.75 including the handle) and 3.125 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall with a diameter of 5.75 inches. The saucer is in superb condition with some very minor use marks and a tiny (and I mean tiny) chip to the underside edge. The cup displays superbly but does have a chip to the bottom edge as shown. A bit of gilding was added to it to hide it better. Both are marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter mark used around 1830-1840 as shown. Impressed numbers under the each and the title Sans-Souci (without a care in French) bei Potsdam in gold. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
