Scenic Egg Shaped Scent Bottle

This is a perfume / scent bottle in the shape of an egg made by KPM in the mid 19th century or earlier. It is hand painted with a very detailed scene of the city of Bad Gastein which is in Austria just south of Salzburg and near Munich and Innsbruck. It is a spa and ski town and famous for its waterfall which is depicted here in the scene. The scene is surrounded by a ncie gold trim typical for this maker with the rest of the egg having a really nice blue ground color and a gold star to the bottom and a bit more gilding around the top opening. The stopper has a nice metal piece to the top and the cork is held on by a screw. It's a bit old and dry but still works. The piece is in superb condition. The piece is unmarked which is always the case with these eggs as there is no good spot to do so without killing the decoration. There seems to be a painter's mark to the inside edge of the opening in the shape of a leaf or something along those lines as shown. The egg is 2.75 inches tall and 2.125 inches in diameter. A nice sized piece that looks stunning! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1499
