Scenic Tray

This is a platter or tray made by KPM in the late 18th century. KPM used no painters mark like the red orb yet during this period thus you only have the blue scepter and impressed marks most of the time. The tray is handpainted with a large classical polychrome scene in the center of two ladies by an altar. One is pouring some oil or such into a bowl and the other holding a leaf garland while playing some sort of musical instrument. The scene is of superb quality and of a nice size. The platter's edge is painted in pink and cobalt blue with lots of gilding over that. The dish is in great condition with a little wear mainly to the gold on the edge and one chip to the footring as shown. It displays superbly! The piece is 1.375 inches tall, 14 inches wide and 11.125 inches deep. It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter with a blue line underneath as well as some impressed marks as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1249
