Art Nouveau Polar Bear Figurine

This is a really nice figurine of a Polar Bear made by KPM in the early 20th century during the Art Nouveau period. Originally modeled by Sigismund Wernekinck around 1909 this hard to find polar bear is standing on an nice simple base as if walking on ice. The figure is subtly painted in the rare under glaze colours of the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil period. Just a bit for the eyes and snout as well as the pad of the back foot. Just enough to make it look realistic. The under glaze colored figurines are fantastic and quite hard to find these days. The piece is in perfect condition. It is about 5.25 inches tall, 2.75 inches wide and 9.75 inches long. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter, their blue orb for under glaze painted pieces as well as some painter's marks an the usual impressed marks, etc. as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $749
