Weichmalerei Figural Match Holder

This is a superb chamberstick type matchbox holder made by KPM in the early 20th century during the Jugenstil / Art Nouveau period. Not a model I have ever seen but I ahve owned and seen the matching candlestick a few times. The piece here is superbly modeled with a lady's head forming the handle, some nice scoll work around the edge highlighted with puce, light yellow and gilding plus off course the superb hand painted Weichmalerei flowers around the base of the piece as well as on either side of the match box holder part. The head of a lady is also painted very well. Dark puce and gold trim around the base of the match holder. Hard to describe all the details but the piece is amazing so ahve a look at the photos for a better idea. The piece is in superb condition with one tiny firing crack to one of the points only on the underside. It is so minor and glazed over that it is still a first choice piece. As nice as they come! The piece is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter, the red orb, an impressed letter N as the year code and a bunch of gilder's / painter's marks as shown. The enite piece is about 3 inches tall, 6.625 inches from the head to the other end and 5.5 inches deep. Comes with an old Russian match box. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $699
