La Courtille Love Plate

This is a superb plate made by Rue de la Fontaine-au-Roi also known as La Courtille in the late 18th century. It is superbly handpainted with a ring around the rim of different critters in a landscape background. In the center is a bit of an odd scene of a burning heart with wings chained down so I am assuming it should say you are the only one for me :) It does say in the banner on top of it "Malgre Mon" which means something like still your. Seems to be appologetic maybe but I am unsure of this plate's whole meaning! Either way it is a superb piece and one of the best I have seen by them. There is also some nice gold trim. This plate is in perfect condition with some wear to the gilding and clear glaze from stacking and it is marked underneath with the crossed torches in underglaze blue. The plate is 1.25 inches tall and 9.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1249
