LeNove Chinoiserie Scene Cup #1

This is a rare find - a small teabowl shaped cup made by Nove in the 18th century. The factory was started by Pasquale Antonibona and was originally making faience but started to make porcelain in 1752. The factory was finally closed around 1832. Their wares are hard to find and are often identified as other makers due to their use of a star mark used by a few other makers as well. This piece with the gold trim to the edge would be from the alter 18th century. It is hand painted with a superb chinoiserie scene in iron red. Nice detail to the scene! A really nice quality piece in terms of the painting and the paste. The tea bowl is in superb condition - as nice as they come. It is just over 1.5 inches tall and has a diameter of 2.625 inches. The cup is marked underneath with the iron red star mark as well as an incised letter P. A truly rare and fun example! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $349
