Limoges Dragon Handle Tankard

This is a superb tankard probalby made in the Limoges area of France or possible somewhere in Germany in the later 19th century. What made me buy it is this amazing figural dragon handle but the rest of the piece is really nice as well. The entire outside is painted with a sky background with butterflies to the sides and a really nice scene to the front of three cherubs holding a horn of plenty that has wine spilling out of it. Should have been beer in this case but hey I'll take it. Gold trim to the top edge and the wine flowing all around the bottom edge and a gold trim under that. The inside edge of the mug has what look to be white and red currants with their leaves painted on it. It's a really nice looking tankard! The piece is in superb condition with just a bit of wear to the gold trim. It is unmarked except for an incised number 2405 as shown. The tankard is 5.625 inches tall with a top diameter of 3.375 inches. The bottom is 4.125 inches in diameter so it is flared a bit which looks nice. It's ready and waiting for your evening beer! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
