Signed Limoges Enamel Plaque

This is a really nice framed oval enamel on copper plaque made in France - in the Limoges area - around 1900. The design is of a young Dutch (I think) lady wearing Dutch bonnet on her head, a nice dress and a red stone around her neck. The enamel has the foil behind it so it gives it more depth and is shiny. A really nice look! The background of the black goes from rather dark at the top to a lighter brown towards the bottom. That makes the portait shine even more. The mat around the plaque is wood and then it has a nice wooden frame with some depth to it. Great looking combo! The plaque is in perfect condition and is signed on the lower right side Soustre with Limoges below that. That is for the artist Antoine Soustre. The artist was also well known as a Limoges porcelain painter and enamels by him are rather more rare. The plaque itself is about 3 inches wide and 4.5 inches tall so a nice size. The entire framed piece is 9.625 inches wide and 11.5 inches tall plus about 1.75 inches thick. The wood mat has a light spot toward the top left and the frame has some light spots on the outside probably from how it is put together. It displays fine with the plaque and I would leave it as the frame rather than change it out. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
