Limoges Enamel Portrait Plaque

This is a really nice framed oval enamel on copper plaque made in France - most likely the Limoges area - in the 19th century. This white enamel color is know as Limoges enamel and used by many other makers around the world including Meissen. The piece is nicely hand painted with a portrait of a lady holding a lyre in white on a dark blue ground with some gold highlights. I am sure she is meant to depict the Greek goddess Aphrodite - the goddess of love . So this might be the perfect gift for Valentine's day :) The plaque is signed with the artist initials as shown. It is attached to an olive green velvet backing and comes framed with a distressed looking frame - made that way. It is gold, silver and has some reddish tones in the distressed parts. The plaque has a woven gold cloth around the edge to hide the edge of the plaque. The plaque itself is in perfect condition, the frame and cloth have some signs of age but they displays superbly! The back has been opened but I'll just tape it shut and it won't show when on display anyway. The plaque itself is 4.125 inches wide and 3.5 inches tall so a nice size. The entire framed piece is 8.75 inches wide and 6.75 inches tall plus about 0.75 inches thick. The back does not appear to be marked from what I can see.
