Locre Large Tureen

This is a superb large tureen / terrine made by Locre aka Rue de la Fontaine-au-Roi aka La Courtille in the late 18th century. The main body is hand painted with a nice large floral arrangement on the front as well as the back with some smaller single flowers along the sides byt the nicely shaped handles. The lid has four larger flower arrangements as well as a baranch handle with berries and leaves attached to it. Gold trim to the handles and along the edges. It is quite hard to find these larger pieces especially in decent shape. This piece here is in great condition with some minor damage to the leaves of the lid handle, two smaller chips along the top edge of the main body but looking at the gilding and the painted leaves on them they all look to be original to the piece when it was made. Either way the piece displays very nicely and is a rare survivor! A tiny fleabit along the top edge and a touch of wear plus some normal minor manufacturing flaws common to the large early pieces. The bottom piece is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed arrows mark as shown. The dish is about 8.5 inches tall, 13 inches wide and 8.5 inches deep.
