Sauce Boat

This is a superb gravy boat / sauce dish made by Loosdrecht in about 1780. Oude Loosdrecht was founded by Johannes de Mol in 1771 with what was left of the Weesp factory and was closed in 1784 when he died. The dish has a really nice shape to it with a scroll handle to one side with the details highlighted by a nice blue and gold trim. A gold design to the flat part towards the top. The main body has a relief festoon design to the outside highlighted with that same nice blue color. There is a large hand painted floral arrangement to both the front and back side with six smaller flowers and a leaf filling in the rest of the space. Gold trim to the edges. A very elegant and rare example! Definitely the nicest I have come across. The piece is marked underneath with their blue MoL mark as shown as well as an incised star and MoL and some other incised marks as shown. The condition is superb with just some wear to the gold trim along the high points of the top edge as shown. A small firing flaw to the inside of the tip as shown. Displays superbly and you won't find a nicer one anytime soon! The sauciere is 5.75 inches tall including the handle, about 8 inches long and 4 inches wide. An amazing and very rare example for this maker. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
