Floral Spoon

This is a superb gravy spoon / sauce ladle made by Loosdrecht in about 1780. Oude Loosdrecht was founded by Johannes de Mol in 1771 with what was left of the Weesp factory and was closed in 1784 when he died. The bowl part has a superb large floral arrangement on the inside and underside as well as four small single flowers to the outside and four more to the inside. Four blue festoons in between the single flowers on the inside of the bowl. Gold trim to the edge. The handle has a relief design where it meets the bowl that is highlighted with blue and gold trim. There are two small flowers to the top side and a leaf to the underside. Probably the nicest spoon I have seen by them! The piece is unmarked but this is a known design by them and I do have the matching sauce dish / gravy boat to go along with the spoon if anyone is interested in a set. The condition is superb with just a firing flaw to the top end of the handle underneath the one purple blossom. as shown. The spoon is 8” long - the handle being about 5.625 inches long and the bowl having a diameter of 2.25 inches and depth of 0.875 inches. An amazing and very rare example for this maker.
