Battle Scene Saucer

This is a superb saucer set made by Ludwigsburg around 1765. The dish is hand painted with a very high quality battle scene including soldiers in the front, a castle in the background with lots of tiny figures battling on it in a landscape surrounding. Some small flowers along the rims over a basket weave design to the paste. Gold trim to the edge. The saucer is marked with the CC mark under a crown as well as some impressed marks and a red painted mark C. or half moon. one sees on Ludwigsburg of this era. The saucer is 1.25 inches tall and 5.375 inches in diameter. The piece is in great condition with a spot of gold trim missing on the very edge which looks to be the result of a popped glaze bubble and small chip to the outside edge which is possibly due to a flaw within the paste so both are probably due to manufacturing issues. Neither takes away from the piece and it displays superbly! Please email me for more information or photos.
