Bird Plate

This is a plate made by Ludwigsburg between 1759 and 1770 and is marked with the CC mark under the crown in underglaze blue. Impressed number 3 as well as letters IP by the footring. The plate is 1.25 inches tall and 9.5 inches in diameter. It is handpainted with a scene in the center of two birds - one sitting in a small tree and the other on the ground. Very nice detail. Some small bugs are painted on the rim which has the basketweave relief called the Osier relief typical of that period. Gold trim. The plate is in great condition with a tiny bit of wear to the gold trim and the usual firing faults of the porcelain paste itself typical of these pieces during this period.
