Bird Scene Cup & Saucer

This is a superb cup and saucer made by Ludwigsburg around 1765. Both are handpainted with a top quality bird scene as well as three/four really nice bugs and a nice gold trim. The set was painted by one of the Hoeflich brothers (the birds and bugs) and the tree by whoever the letter B signifies. The signature HO: can be found twice in the butterfly wings and was used by the Hoeflich brothers. A big THANKS as always to Dr. Hans Flach - one of the really nice experts in the field of porcelain! I always enjoy the chats! The set is marked with the CC mark under the crown in underglaze blue as well as an impressed number 8 on the footring and 1C near that as well as a painter's mark B in iron red on the saucer and on the cup. The footring of the cup has an impressed number 3. The cup is 1.875 inches tall and has a diameter of 2.75 inches. The saucer is 1.25 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter. Both are in super condition with just a small chip on the footring of the saucer and wear to the gilding of the top edge on the cup. Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $1499
