Pantalone Commedia Dell'Arte Figurine

This is a fun figurine from the famous commedia dell'Arte series made by Ludwigsburg in the 18th century. A very hard to find figurine from probably the most collected series of figures from any maker. The figure is of Pantalone aka Pantaloon who is one of the most important principal characters of the Italian commedy - a greedy character from the high society that signifies money in the commedia dell arte .Nicely modeled standing on a typical base with gold scrolls to it. He has a large beard, is holding a letter in one hand, is wearing a white hat, a long black cloak over his red outfit underneath with gold buttons down the center. Very nicely modeled and hand painted as one would expect from one of Germany's top makers. The figurine displays perfectly but has a couple of minor top notch restorations - the letter in his hand, the tip of the sleeve on his left arm and the top of his dagger/sword. Nothing major and he looks superb! The figure is 4 inches tall, 2.75 inches wide and 1.75 inches deep. Please email me for more information or photos.
