Veritas Lady Figurine

This is a nice large figurine made by Ludwigsburg in the 18th century. It is of a lady standing on a nice base holding an open book in her hands with a large sun symbol on the one side and the word VERITAS written on the other. The mostly nude lady is modled very much in the normal manner for this maker and just covered a bit in her mid section with a puce, green and gold cloth that drapes from her left hand behind the back behind her down to the base. There is a nice pedestal below the book with some gold highlights and the base has a puce trim to the edges and a molded raised detail to each side. The figure is of a ncie size being 10.375 inches tall, 5.5 inches wide and 4 inches deep. The piece is in great condition with some minor damage - a small chip to the edge of the cloth to the right of the book, another tiny one to the front right top corner of the base as well as a couple of tiny munchers to the base edges. A minor well done repair to the fingers on top of the book as well as the the tip of the cloth showing on the right side of the book. Some minor firing flaws and a large firing crack to the middle of the base which was repaired at the factory. This happened because the center supports are lowers than the corners of the base - someone didn't pay attention. Some black firing specs mainly to her mid section and by her neck common to these larger pieces. The figurine is marked with their under glaze blue interlaced double C mark as shown underneath on the underside of the base. A nice figure in a nice size!
