Marseille Cup & Saucer

This is a rare cup and saucer made in France in the 18th century. This set is not made of porcelain but of some sort of faience but nontheless of superb quality. Handpainted with a scene of a couple in a landscape background and flowers in the saucer. And with a gentleman with his loaded donkey on the cup. Both have some nice gold trim. Quite different than any other piece I own but with a lot of charm. The piece is marked underneath with a bluish mark which is probably a fleur de lis mark. The saucer is in superb condition. Some paste flaws on the outside only one of which was painted over to hide it a bit. The cup sadly has the handle missing, a very small rim chip and two fleabites. None of this takes away from this piece as the scene on the cup is opposite the handle and thus it displays superbly! The cup measures 2.5 inches tall and the same in diameter and the saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.25 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
