Rock & Bird Leaf Dish #1

This is an early leaf dish made by Meissen around the mid 18th century probably pre 1740. It is hand painted with the under glaze blue Fels und Vogel ( rock and bird ) design first seen around 1735 I believe. A small sorbet dish or some call it a pickle dish in a leaf shape with a nice handle and relief leaves underneath as feet. A very nicely modeled piece and jsut plain fun to look at. The dish is in great condition with early firing flaws like small missed glaze bubbles, the feet have no glaze and are worn a bit and some tiny tiny nibbled to the top flat part of the handle that look to be from the making as well. About as nice as you will find. The piece is 1.375 inches tall (the handle sticks up a bit), 3.875 inches long with the handle and 3 inches wide. It is marked with the small underglaze blue crossed swords mark with a a dot looking thing between the bottom part. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $299
