Brown Ground & Blue Scene Saucer

This is a rare saucer made by Meissen in the mid 18th century around 1740. The saucer has a hand painted under glaze blue scene to the center that is very much Asian inspired with blue rings around the scene and a nice trim to the edge. The bonus is the brown ground color on the underside one rarely sees. All in all a superb example! The piece in good condition with a firing crack on the very edge as well as a small chip to the foot ring. It deisplays perfectly. The saucer is 1 inch tall and 4.75 inches in diameter. It is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as shown. An early mark but given this piece also has an impressed number as shown it has to date to right around 1740. Double blue rings to the udnerside as well as a blue painter's number as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $349
