1745 Floral Cup & Saucer

This is an early cup and saucer made by Meissen in about 1745. Both pieces are handpainted with superb floral arrangements as well as single flowers in the woodcut style before the Deutsche Blumen style took hold. These flowers are much more natural looking and much more detailed than later ones. They have a gold trim to the rim and the handle as well as a nice basket weave design to the rim area. The set is in superb condition with just a little wear - mostly to the top rim of the cup and one flower on the saucer. The saucer is about 1 inch tall and 4.5 inches in diameter. The cup is 1.75 inch tall and 2.875 inches in diameter. Both pieces are marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark that are straight from this period.
