Hercules with Bull Figurine

This is a wonderful figure of Hercules and a bull made by Meissen in the mid 18th century. I have seen this group called Hercules and the Caledonian bull Achelous but also Hercules and the Minotaur though I think the former is more fitting and correct. Either way the figurine is of Hercules wrestling a bull to the ground. A rally nice figurine that is very well modeled and perfectly hand painted plus the subject is nice as well. The base has some scroll work all around highlighted with gilding and some greenery and two flowers to finish it off. Hercules is wearing the lion skin which has the paws and tail in the back. Just a stunning figurine that is painted perfectly I think - less colorful than many of their peices which I think makes it perfect for display anywhere! The figurine is in great condition with just the tail of the lion having been reglued but that is not obvious at all even when seen from the back side and the pinky of his right hand has been restored but the piece displays perfectly! The figure is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as well as the impressed model number as shown. It is about 5.125 inches tall, 6.5 inches wide and 4.75 inches deep.
