Winter w/Coal Warmer Figurine

This is one figurine of a the series of four seasons made by Meissen in about 1750. This one here represents winter (obviously) and is of a putto covered in a superb blue cloth with fur lining sitting on a nice base while holding a lit coal warmer in its lap. A superbly modeled piece that is hand painted to perfection. A really nice early example! These early pieces are really getting hard to find! It is in great condition with some minor firing faults in the shape of tiny specs or tiny glaze skips normal to these very early figures and the back left bottom corner of the base has been restored fairly well. There are two very minor chips to the very bottom edge as shown. The piece displays perfectly and looks amazing! The bottom is flat and filled with only the air hole in it typical of the earliest figurines. Not marked since it would have been underneath and since it is unglazed it just kind of doesn't make it most of the time. The quality and look are easy to identify it as a nice early Meissen figure! The piece is 4.75 inches tall, 2.5 inches wide and 3.25 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $1499
