Monk w/ Child Scent Bottle

This is a superb figural perfume bottle made by Meissen in in the mid 18th century. It's a piece you come across from time to time but almost all are more modern including the anniversary addition I own from 1910. So here we have the original period piece which is great. Much ncier detail! The piece is known as the "The Bawdy Monk" and is of a monk carrying a young child on his back that is concealed in a wheat sheaf. The monk is carrying a dead duck by its neck in his left hand and a basket of eggs in his other hand. The piece is based on a folk tale. The child's head is barely visible in the wheat. The wheat sheaf is more sideways oriented and has the addition of nice flowers compared to the newer versions. The base has three single flowers painted on the top and a superb floral arrangement to the underside. The edge has a silver trim to it, The one scent bottle is opened by taking off the monk's head while the other has the greenery as the stopper on top of the wheat. The child's feet dangle underneath! Nice silver stoppers keep the perfume safe. The piece is in great condition considering the age. There is some minor damage to the tips of the wheat, a chip to the edge of the monk's robe as well as a bit of wear to the edges, the stopper of the greenery is a bit rough looking with some small chips and overpaint and there is a crack along the side of the base but that is perfectly held in place by the silver trim around the base. I am just being picky as always and the piece displays wonderfully and looks amazing! Unmarked but unmistakably Meissen from this period! The flakon is 2.875 inches tall, 1.75 inches wide and 1.625 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
