Cool Blue Onion Tankard #2

This is a really nice tankard made by Meissen in about 1985. Only reason I know that is because it still has its original paperwork with it which is not common at all. It is decorated with a design based on their famous blue onion / Zwiebelmuster design in under glaze blue but the blue and design are more similar to the early 18th century pieces - nice and dark. You can feel the blue sunk into the paste and it has a nice design to the top rim and a fun design to the paste along the bottom edge and bottom terminal of the handle. Nice tapered shape to the tankard. Really a stunning looking piece! Nice sized version as well! The piece is in perfect condition. it is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark (first choice) as well as the usual impressed marks, etc. one finds on Meissen of this period as shown. The tankard is 5.375 inches tall and just over 3.625 inches in diameter at the top and 4.125 inches at the bottom. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $499
